Deal alert: You can now get an Amazon Echo and Echo Dot for £124 (a saving of £76)

If you’re getting fed up of chatting to your stereo system and getting no reply, now is the time to take the first steps towards making your home that little bit more fluent in English. The Amazon Echo is a fabulous bit of kit that will not only play music on request, but will tell you about your day, the weather, how your commute is looking, tell you jokes and a lot more besides.

Deal alert: You can now get an Amazon Echo and Echo Dot for £124 (a saving of £76)

This technological marvel usually goes for £150, but right now you can buy one for £99 at Argos, or for 99p more from Amazon.

(No, it’s not a fake news headline – I’m getting to that.)

That’s great, but what if you have more than one room in your house, and a desire to chat to Amazon’s servers at every turn? The Echo Dot is a smaller, cheaper and generally dinkier version of the Echo. It connects to any speaker via wires or Bluetooth making them smart without the expense.

Brilliantly, if you’re buying the Echo from Argos for £99, you’ll see a box on the right offering you £20 off the Echo Dot when bought alongside the Echo. Build your bundle, and you’ll get both an Echo and a Dot for a stunning £123.99. See? Not only was the headline accurate, but I even undersold it a little. Enjoy your extra penny.echo_and_echo_dot_deal_ps124

Amazon doesn’t price match this part of the deal, sadly, but if you just want an Echo, it may still be the place to go, given its generous customer service and fast delivery. If you want both, the Argos deal is by far the best we’ve seen. To put it into context, you’re getting an Echo and an Echo Dot for lower than the RRP on the Google Home. Hell, you’re getting both for £26 less than the price of the Echo on its own.

It’s not clear how long the offers are on for, so best to act quickly if you’re interested. I don’t expect a deal this generous to last too long.
