A full write-up of what’s in store for the season is available on The New Yorker, including details of the first episode, titled “Dustwun” – a military acronym that means “duty status: whereabouts unknown”. After leaving his army base in Afghanistan in 2009, Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban and held for almost five years.

The surge of interest momentarily floored Serial’s official site, although it now seems to be back on its feet. The podcast is also available via Pandora, thanks to an exclusive deal between the podcast makers and the music-streaming service.
