Surface Windows 8 Pro arrives 9 February
Windows 8 Pro version of the Surface tablet to arrive next month
Surface with Windows 8 Pro will go on sale 9 February.
The Intel Core i5 version of Microsoft's tablet was originally expected to arrive at the end of January, and follows three months after the ARM-based Surface with Windows RT.
While the Surface RT arrived in the UK at the same time as the US, no UK availability was immediately announced for the Windows 8 Pro version, and no UK prices have been released.
Microsoft revealed at the end of November that prices would start from $899, almost twice the price of the Surface RT at $499.
Microsoft said the Windows 8 Pro Surface would sell via its retail stores and microsoftstore.com, as well as at Staples and Best Buy stores in the US and Canada.
The company also unveiled new versions of its Touch Cover, with designs etched into the material, and a special Surface Edition of the Wedge Touch Mouse, made from a similar material to the tablet.
Microsoft added that it was expanding availability of the Surface RT to 13 new markets in the coming weeks: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
The 64GB version of the Surface RT will now be available as a standalone device, and no longer only bundled with a cover.
