The Echo 2 is a small, inexpensive, and great sounding speaker that usually retails for around £90. You can read all about it in our review, but the gist is that, as a speaker, it rocks and as a smart device, it’s one of the best out there. The smart plug is a little lesser-known than other smart home devices, which is a real shame as it’s a cool addition to any smart home. Anything plugged into the smart plug can be voice controlled through Alexa, and you can also give it a schedule using the app. Unlike a lot of smart home devices, no hub is required – just an Alexa device.

£70 is a great deal, but you can get it even cheaper, if you’re willing to wait. You can buy the Echo and smart plug bundle directly from Amazon for £65, but only the special edition red version is in stock, and it won’t be released until 5 December. All others will be restocked on 18 December, but you’ll still pay the lower price if you order now. Whether or not waiting a few weeks is worth £5 is your call, but to sweeten the pot Amazon is also tossing in 3 months of Amazon Music Unlimited to anyone who buys an Echo through its store.
