Ever since watchOS 2, we’ve been waiting for a new killer app for the Apple Watch – and GoPro may have just delivered it. A new app from from the company lets Apple Watch owners remotely control their Wi-Fi-enabled GoPro action cameras, and it’s one of the best uses we’ve seen for Apple’s smartwatch. The app is available now for all iOS devices including the iPad and iPhone, but it’s the accompanying Apple Watch app we’re most excited about.
As you’d expect, the app lets you use your Apple Watch as a viewfinder, but also enables users to take photos, toggle between shooting modes or even start and stop recordings. The Apple Watch also lets you tag sections of video so they’re easier to find when you start editing.
GoPros may be useful, but their portability means they’re hard to control, and they’re often attached to another vehicle or device. The new app solves those issues, and could open up new methods of filming – or at least make the existing ones easier.
