Bill and Melinda Gates’ charitable foundation has given $15mn to the Computer History Museum in California.
The donation from the trust set up by Microsoft founder and his wife will be used to create an interactive exhibition showing the history of computing and its impact.
‘The impact on our society of the computing revolution is simply breathtaking. It has changed the way we work, play, learn, and communicate,’ said Mr Gates. ‘It’s our responsibility to collect the artefacts and stories today that will explain this incredible change to future generations.’
The museum still needs a further $50mn to reach the $125mn that it is hoping to raise.
