The Grand Tour Season 2 is go: Jeremy Clarkson is back on Amazon Prime NOW

The Grand Tour – starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – is now back on your screens, as the Amazon Prime exclusive series returns for its second season.

The first episode was available to stream from midnight on 8 December, with a second episode following on the 16th.

The Grand Tour Season 2 takes place across five continents, with the ex-Top Gear team heading to Croatia, Mozambique, Dubai, Spain, Switzerland, Colorado and New York. Interestingly though, the studio won’t be moving, as The Grand Tour makes camp in the Cotswolds – not too far from Clarkson’s home.

You can see the trailer for The Grand Tour Season 2 below.

How to watch The Grand Tour Season 2:

The Grand Tour release date and news: Watch footage from Jeremy Clarkson’s new car show

You’ve still got a few hours to kill before season two drops, so why not catch up with season one of The Grand Tour? Here’s how you do it.

Unlike Top Gear, which was originally broadcast on free-to-air TV, The Grand Tour is only available on the internet right now – and that means you’ll need to have a PC, Mac, smartphone or TV with access to the Amazon Instant Video app. The best-value way to watch The Grand Tour is to pay the £79 annual fee for Amazon Prime, but there is another way: subscribing to Amazon Prime Video on its own for £6 per month. The only issue? Prime Video works out at around £72 per year, which doesn’t look cheap compared to the complete Prime package. For Prime Video, free delivery and more, Amazon only charges an extra £7 over 12 months (although, again, you must pay in one lump sum; the Video-only option is paid monthly).

How to watch The Grand Tour for free

A new episode of The Grand Tour is released every week, but it’s actually possible to watch all of the episodes so far for free, and it’s completely legal, too. Amazon Instant Video works like any other on-demand app, so it’s possible to watch each episode of the show well after it’s originally aired. If you want to watch The Grand Tour for free, all you need to do is sign up for a free Amazon Prime trial subscription below.

Jeremy Clarkson on Amazon Prime: How it happened

According to The Independent, the team decided to go with Amazon Prime not for money, but for freedom. Reports suggest that the team were in talks with ITV first, but it was clear they wouldn’t get the creative freedom they craved. As for Netflix? It just wasn’t interested.

Andy Wilman, a producer on the show and a key part of the Clarkson team, said: “We love the people down at ITV, but we couldn’t do it.” Talking about Amazon he said: “Everyone we have talked to has told us: ‘They leave you alone to make your show.’ That’s a big one for us – we don’t like interference, we don’t need to be policed.”jeremy_clarkson_hydrogen_cars

“Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to make that happen,” added Jay Marine, vice president of Amazon Prime Video EU. “Millions of Prime members are already enjoying our groundbreaking original shows. We can’t wait to see what Jeremy, Richard, James and the team will create in what is sure to be one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.”

The deal will see one of terrestrial television’s most popular presenters move to an online-only platform, providing another example of the growing power of streaming.
