The Nürburgring is, one of the most challenging circuits for man and machine, and now you can experience it first hand – sort of. Falken tyres, a company which took part in this year’s 24 hour Nürburgring race (N24), has made a VR-capable app that takes you on a hot-lap around the circuit, and it looks immense.

The app actually puts you behind the wheel of Falken’s very own Porsche 911 GT3 R (Type 991), the car it used to take on the N24 race this year, and even includes a pit stop and tyre change. Although the app will work best with a VR headset, you can still watch it on your phone or tablet as 360-degree video.

I visited the Nürburgring just a few weeks ago, and even from the outside it’s easy to see just how demanding it is. I’ve always said that VR is great for concerts and sports, but now it’s becoming increadinlt clear 360-degree video really could change how we watch motorsport.
Unlike other sports such as football and tennis, it’s very hard to experience the rush and feeling of motorsports and less you drive at high-speed yourself, but creating a VR experience is the next best thing.
