Explore the AMAZING McLaren F1 HQ with Google Street View
Whenever Apple is linked to a company, it’s always worth checking out exactly what it does – but when reports about a potential Apple/McLaren partnership surfaced yesterday, we didn’t need to do that. McLaren is one of the most successful racing teams in the history of Formula 1, and has won 182 races at the time of writing – although they haven’t won for around two years.
Formula 1 is always viewed as an international sport, but the truth is most teams are actually based in the UK – and McLaren is no different. The hugely successful racing team is based in Woking, Surrey, and has its own incredible, Norman Foster-designed HQ.
Usually you need a lot of paperwork to get into Formula 1 factory, but thanks to Google Street View, you can actually explore McLaren’s state-of-the-art headquarters right now. Because of the sophisticated nature of modern F1, it looks more like a laboratory than a car factory – but it also serves as a museum of sorts.
That means you can virtually walk around some of the team’s most famous cars, from Lewis Hamilton’s 2008 winning championship winning car, to Ayrton Senna’s 1988 MP4/4 – the most successful F1 car of all time.
