Elon Musk absolutely loves Twitter, and earlier this week he took to the social media platform once again to deliver some interesting news. According to yet another tweet by the tech entrepreneur, Tesla is going to release a new product on 17 October – and it should surprise most of us. After that, the tweet goes on to say that there will be Tesla/SolarCity event taking place on 28 October. So, what should we expect Tesla to release?
The most obvious choice would be the second phase of the Tesla Model 3 launch. When Musk unveiled Tesla’s cheaper EV earlier this year, he said the Model 3 launch would take place in two parts – and we’re still waiting for the second. While the initial unveil showed the outside of the car, Musk took to – yes, Twitter again – to tell us that the final interior of the Model 3 would be shown at another “Phase Two” event later in the year. There’s just one problem with this theory: we’ve been expecting the second half of the Tesla Model 3 launch for a while, and Musk says this product will be “unexpected by most”.
It’s possible that Tesla could be set to unveil its updated Powerwall 2 home battery, but again that’s a product we already know about – and it’s possible that could be shown at the Tesla/SolarCity event later this month anyway. A more unlikely product could be an evolution of the original Tesla roadster, perhaps an all-electric pickup truck for the American market – or even this weird, snake-like charger we covered last year. Either way, we’ll find out next week.
