WATCH THIS: Faraday Future prototype drag races against cars from Tesla, Ferrari and Bentley

Faraday Future is clearly feeling confident about its upcoming production electric car, ahead of a January reveal. It’s confident enough to show the car in 45 seconds of drag racing against some high profile opposition: a Tesla Model X P100D, a Ferrari 488 GTB and a Bentley Bentayga SUV.

As you might imagine for a promotional video, the Faraday Future vehicle comes out top of the charts.

So what can we learn from this? Well, given the Tesla Model X can do 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds, it means that Faraday Future’s vehicle will probably make mincemeat of that record. Then again, it’s perhaps notable that the video doesn’t show it against a Model S, which shaves half a second off of that time.

Meanwhile, pitching the Faraday Future vehicle against the fossil fuel cars in a drag race potentially has its own issue – namely that gas-powered vehicles often have slower acceleration, but catch up over longer distances and have higher top speeds.

Still, on its own merits, it’s an impressive video and it’ll be interesting to see the full specifications of the vehicle when it’s unveiled early next year.
