Every year the Geneva Motor Show gives car manufacturers a platform to show off their latest production and concept cars, and this year is no different. Based on current trends, we’re expecting electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles to play a big part at the show, but it’s highly likely there’ll be plenty of unashamedly powerful performance cars on display, too.
Along with a new 2.0-litre hybrid Auris, for example, Toyota has hinted it’ll reveal “a racing concept signalling the return of Toyota’s most iconic sports car”, which can be none other than the new Supra. Elsewhere, we’re expecting to see Jaguar’s first electric vehicle, the iPace, the new Audi A6, and a new Mercedes A Class.

Geneva Motor Show premieres
Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept
16 years after its production ceased in 2002, Toyota has today finally unveiled a new racing concept version of the Supra ahead of the Geneva Motor Show. The manufacturer hasn’t yet revealed any details about the car’s engine or power output yet, but we do know the GR Supra Racing Concept, created by Toyota Gazoo Racing, features a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration.
We also know it’s been designed to race, so there’s a large rear wing and lowered suspension, along with a racing exhaust and Brembo braking system. Inside, there’s an OMP driver’s seat and safety harness, racing dashboard, quick-release steering wheel and paddle-shift system.
As great as it looks – and we can’t wait to see more of at the Geneva Motor Show – there’s still no news on whether we can expect a production version of the car anytime soon, so we’ll keep this page updated as we learn more.
Jaguar I-Pace
The Jaguar I-Pace is easily the most anticipated car at Geneva, not only is it Jaguar’s first all-electric car, it’s also one of the first electric SUVs to come to market. Unveiled ahead of the show at an exclusive reveal event, the I-Pace takes design cues from the F-Pace and E-Pace, but pushes out 394bhp thanks to its all-electric powertrain.
We’ve seen concept sketches of what the I-Pace could look like since its first unveiling at the 2016 LA Motor Show, but now it’s finally been unveiled it’s a thing of beauty.
We still don’t have much of an idea beyond “2018” as a release date, but now we finally know the I-Pace’s core specs. It goes from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds and it’s 90kWh Lithium-ion battery gives it a range of 298 miles. You’ll also get rapid charging, giving you 80% from zero in just 85 minutes, with 30 minutes of charging giving you an 80-mile range.

Audi A6
Redesigned inside and out, the all-new A6 is set to make its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show ahead of going on sale in June. According to Auto Express the new A6 will also become the first executive car to offer “mild-hybrid technology” across its entire engine range.
“Four cylinder engines will use a simple 12v system with a belt starter-generator, allowing the start/stop function to kick in while the car is still moving up to 14mph,” it explains. “It’s also able to ‘coast’ between 35 and 100mph, switching off the engine when the driver lifts off the accelerator and instantly restarting it when needed.”
