Only days after The Grand Tour Season 3 was officially announced, and received a trailer and release date, The Grand Tour Game has received a lot more information.

The game is episodic, with content unlocked simultaneous to its debut in the series itself. You'll be able to race the tracks the trio race, and in the same cars, and even compete in the same challenges they do. The game will be released on 15 January 2019, days before the 17 January premiere of the show, but players will be able to play along to the first episodes of Season 1 and Season 2 upon release.

In addition the game is only £24.99 for a pre-order, which is surprisingly cheap given it's a popular show (and new games often retail for £50+).

The season debut of The Grand Tour Season 3 may be some way away, but the trailer shows we can expect the same antics and adventures as previous seasons. Also included in The Grand Tour's new trailer are rickety bridges, snowy tracks, and giant statues to Jeremy Clarkson.

The Grand Tour Season 3 Release Date: When will Season 3 come out?

The Grand Tour has traditionally debuted near the end of the year – Season 1 began on 18 November 2016 and Season 2 started on 8 December 2017 so Season 3 is much later than expected.

The 17 January release date may still be some distance away still, but it's understandable. It's being reported that filming hasn't actually finished yet. The tour tent segments of The Grand Tour are still being filmed, and will be until mid-December. While these are always the last parts of the show to be filmed, it'll still take a while from production finishing until the show is released, as editing video is a hugely time-consuming task.

The Grand Tour Season 3 Video Game

Announced in August, the video game of The Grand Tour Season 3 is an interesting and experimental game that ties in closely with the series.

Amazon’s The Grand Tour game is set to be an episodic racer, with each episode likely released at the same time as the corresponding episode of the show. In it, you re-create the events of each episode, from racing around the iconic Eboladrome race track in whatever car Clarkson does in the show, to completing the challenges that Hammond and May embark on in each episode. The game includes four-player split-screen.

A trailer was released that shows off short snippets of the game.

While it's light on details regarding the game itself, it does show off the mechanic of seamless transitions between the game and the show. Since each episode of the game is based on a corresponding episode of the show, this means you'll be able to watch the show via the game, rather than on a separate device, before jumping into its levels once it finishes.

Some brief moments of gameplay are seen, in which a car from the show is zipping around the track. For the most part, however, the trailer emphasises the connectedness of the game and the show. Most of the footage shown is from the show.

James May, who narrates the trailer, does find time to get some digs at Clarkson and Hammond too, which is always worth the watch.
