DrivingElectric is a new website dedicated to electric cars

Some internal news for you: Dennis Publishing, the company behind Alphr, has launched a new website focused on electric vehicles (EVs).

DrivingElectric is a new website dedicated to electric cars

DrivingElectric, which has gone live today, covers reviews of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars on the market, along with buying guides, news and advice.

Associate editor Vicky Parrott, previously of What Car?, Autocar and DriveTribe, is fronting the site – presenting video reviews and explainer pieces breaking down the myths and realities of electric vehicles. She’s working with Auto Express and Carbuyer’s Steve Fowler, who has taken on the role of editor-in-chief.

“All the research and industry trends point to a market explosion for electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. But our research points to a real gap in buyers’ knowledge, too,” he said.

“Now is the perfect time to fill that gap with DrivingElectric, providing clear, concise and jargon-free content on our website and across a range of social media channels, including YouTube.”

Given our own interest in electric vehicles, we’re pretty excited to have a dedicate sister-site for the subject. Sales of EVs have surged in recent months, with a record one in 12 buyers going electric, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Stats from EV Volumes tell a similar story, with plug-in vehicle sales in Europe reaching 195,000 units in the first half of 2018, 42% higher than for the same period of 2017.

Given rising petrol costs, and the gradual expansion of charging points across the UK, DrivingElectric comes along at a time when many are considering the benefits of electric. The site is partnering with Volkswagen until the end of 2018, which will involve a range of articles and videos about the practicalities of electric cars.

You can check out the new site here. Make sure you also subscribe to DrivingElectric’s Twitter and Instagram pages for the latest EV news and reviews.
