The i945GTt is a mini-ITX-sized board – AOpen calls its variation Flex ATX – measuring just 170 x 170mm. It takes Socket 479 notebook-type processors, including Core Solo and Duo, and two notebook-size SODIMM memory modules. There’s no extra voltage converter required: you just plug the supplied 19V external power supply straight into the board for an extremely compact setup. There’s a DVI output too. The i945GTt leaves VIA’s boards standing when it comes to performance. Power consumption is higher of course, but a bit of experimentation with a quiet 40mm heatsink gave a system running as near to silent as made no difference. It’s an expensive option, but partner it with a Core Duo CPU and the i945GTt gives you desktop performance in a tiny and quiet package.
