You can never have too much storage attached to your PC or network, and the 320GB TrekStor DataStation is more flexible than most. Not only does it have a USB interface, but you can also access it 24/7 by connecting it to a router via its 10/100 Ethernet port. Performance over USB is respectable – we backed up 100MB of files at a rate of 20MB/sec, and restored them to our host PC slightly faster, at 23MB/sec. Switching to a wired, 10/100 network more than halved performance, although 10MB/sec and 9MB/sec for reading and writing is still good enough to make the DataStation anadequate choice as a network drive, particularly given the low cost pergigabyte.
