The TS-L802A has already made a few appearances in PC Pro, but only built into laptops. We saw it first in the Asus W2Pc (web ID: 100155), and later in the Toshiba Qosmio G30 (web ID: 87349). But if you already have a laptop, the TS-L802A adds HD DVD capabilities to your system for comfortably under £150. You’ll need a laptop with a 17in screen to take full advantage, but on a decent panel the difference between standard DVDs and HD DVDs is noticeable. Alternatively, the TS-L802A is perfect for adding high-definition capabilities to a slimline media-centre chassis. A further plus is that the drive is capable of burning duties. It’s compatible with all formats of blank optical media excluding HD DVD itself and, obviously, Blu-ray.
