We’ve seen a few sub-£50 motherboards this month, but the cream of the crop has to be Chaintech’s SK8T800. For the same price as several of our A-Listed software packages you could buy a motherboard that supports the latest Socket 754 Athlon 64 processors, up to 2GB of RAM and 8x AGP. The SK8T800 boasts 10/100 Ethernet and RAID support too. Six-channel audio is present as are two Serial ATA connectors.
We might quibble that many of the other boards come with gigabit Ethernet, and we might point out that capacitors crowd the CPU socket and IDE connectors are located well apart from each other. But at this price we can see few people complaining.
