Crumpler Boomer review
When a notebook comes with a bundled carry case it’s usually a cheap affair that doesn’t offer much protection, and looks so obviously like a notebook case that it’s a target for thieves. But there are plenty of top-quality bags available that blend durability with everyday styling.
The Crumpler Boomer suffers from a similar lack of pockets, but compensates somewhat with its approachable design. The light-grey finish isn’t unlike the average shoulder bag found in high-street stores, and makes it the least likely to be picked out as a laptop bag. The main section fits 15.4in notebooks, although there are 13in and 17in sizes available in a variety of colours. Aside from that, all you get is one compartment to drop all your accessories in loosely, and a net pouch for small items: this isn’t a bag for organised types. We also aren’t hugely convinced by the thin padding, particularly when compared to the TechAir or Pakuma, but as an everyday bag for occasional notebook use it isn’t a terrible choice.
