How to Delete Notes in Google Keep

Google Keep is a perfect app to help you organize and remember everything you have to do. However, if you don’t tidy it regularly, it can become a real mess and harder for you to navigate through your lists and notes. That’s why you should go through the notes every once in a while and delete those that are no longer relevant.

How to Delete Notes in Google Keep

You’ll be surprised to find that you don’t even remember when you created some of the notes.

Deleting a Note

If you want to delete a single note, here’s what you have to do:

  1. Open the Google Keep app.
  2. Select the note you wish to delete.
  3. Tap on the three dots at the bottom right corner.
  4. Tap on Delete.

That’s all! If you want to delete multiple notes, you won’t have to repeat this process for each of them. Here’s how to delete multiple notes at once:

  1. Open the Google Keep app.
  2. Press and hold each note you want to delete.
  3. The notes will be selected.
  4. Tap on More.
  5. Tap on Delete.

There you have it! You now know how to delete as many notes as you want in just a few seconds.

Note: If you’ve shared a note with someone and then deleted it, be aware that it’ll also be removed for the other person. Therefore, it may be a good idea to let them know in advance so they can make a note of their own and save the information if they still need it.

  3. Tap on the Trash can.
  4. Select the note you want to recover and open it.
  5. Tap on the three dots at the bottom right corner.

So easy! Just make sure to be quick before they’re really deleted, as there’s no way to recover your notes then.

Can I Delete a Note Permanently?

If you don’t want to wait 7 days but prefer to delete the note immediately, there’s a way to do so. You’ll have to empty your trash can, which will permanently remove all the notes you’ve deleted in the past 7 days. This option is great, but before you start, make sure that you recover any notes you’re not sure if you want to delete forever.

Here’s how to clear your trash can in Google Keep:

  1. Open the Google Keep app.
  2. Open Menu.
  3. Tap on the Trash can.
  4. Tap on More.
  5. Select the Empty Trash option.

That’s it! In just a few seconds, all discarded notes will be gone for good!

How to Archive a Note?

There’s a difference between deleting and archiving a note. When you archive a note, it means that you may not need it at this moment but you also don’t want to remove it permanently. You should think of your Archive as a special folder in Google Keep. On the other hand, deleting a note means you’re probably sure that you’ll never need or care to have this note again.

Archiving notes is really easy, here’s what you have to do:

  1. Open the Google Keep app.
  2. Select the note you wish to archive.
  3. Tap on More at the top right corner.
  4. Select the Archive option from the list

Of course, you can also archive more notes at the same time. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Google Keep app.
  2. Press and hold each note you want to archive.
  3. The notes will be selected.
  4. Tap on More.
  5. Tap on Archive.

How to Take Notes Out of Archive?

The most significant difference between deleting and archiving notes is this: When you delete a note, you only have 7 days to recover it or it’ll be removed forever. On the other hand, your notes can be in the archive for years and years, and you can take them out of archive whenever you want and without any limitations. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Open the Google Keep app.
  2. Open the Menu.
  3. Open your Archive.
  4. Select the note and open it.
  5. Tap on the Unarchive option.

There you have it! This simple option can help you organize your notes better.

To Delete or to Archive?

It’s a complicated question! Everything depends on your character: whether you’re sure about your decisions or you often regret them. Some people like deleting notes forever, as it clears both the space in Google Keep and that of your mind. However, if you’re one of those who always keep things “just in case,” the archive may be perfect for you.

Which option do you prefer? Do you regularly delete notes in Google Keep or do you sometimes forget to do it? Let us know in the comments section below.
