53 tweets where Donald Trump questioned the concept of climate change

Recently I wrote a piece explaining how Donald Trump’s surprise election as president of the United States means seriously bad things for the future of the planet we’ve been privileged to call home for the last 200,000 years.

During the campaign, he promised to renegotiate the Paris Climate Agreement. “I will be looking at that very, very seriously, and at a minimum I will be renegotiating those agreements, at a minimum. And at a maximum I may do something else,” he said. Suffice it to say, the second-biggest carbon emitter on the planet pulling out of the deal would be a major bump in the road for international co-operation.

If there was one silver lining you could grasp at from such a depressing post, it was this: Donald Trump has been known to flip-flop. He does it a lot. He’s only been president-elect for 13 days, and he’s already rowed back to varying degrees on Obamacare, imprisoning his beaten opponent and settling the Trump University lawsuit.

But climate change… that’s something he’s been really consistent on, even before he was actively running for president. In other words, this might not just have been hollow words to please his core supporters.

Due to the President Elect seemingly never deleting tweets, we can go quite far back in his history, and one Reddit user – take a bow, AnOnlineHandle – has done just that. Here, for your delectation are 53 tweets in which Donald Trump was dismissive of climate change.

A warning for those with delicate desks not designed for slamming your head against: plenty of them do confuse weather and climate. You have been warned.

I’m afraid he means this, folks. Watch out, Earth.
