Nevertheless, some user might still experience sluggish recharging. This problem can test your nerves, especially if you rely on your phone to be at 100% battery as quickly as possible.

There are a few things that you can do to optimize charging and fix the problem. Check out some of the tried-and-true methods that should help.

Enable Fast Charging

To realize the benefits of the Adaptive Fast Charger, you need to make sure that the option is on. Here’s how:

1. Tap Settings

Access the Settings menu and navigate to Device Maintenance, then tap to enter.

2. Select Battery

Hit Battery under Device Maintenance to reach more settings.

3. Choose Advanced Settings

Find the Fast Cable Charging option – tap on it to toggle on.

With the Fast Cable Charging enabled, you can expect your Galaxy to charge from 0 to 100% in about two hours.

Note: Naturally, it’s going to take longer if you use your phone when it’s charging.

Inspect the Hardware

For optimal charging times, you should always use the USB cable and adapter that came with your phone. But the hardware may deteriorate over time and cause poor charging times.

Take a close look at both the cable and the adapter. If there are is any crack or tears, consider getting a replacement. Inspecting your phone’s USB port may help as well. The port might have collected some dust and debris which can certainly obstruct the connection when charging the phone.

If this is the case, carefully clean the port with a toothpick. Don’t go too hard lest you break something.

Stop Background Apps

A lot of apps running in the background can eat into your battery and markedly slow down the charging time. You may want to stop all the apps to ensure a fast recharge. Here’s how to do it:

1. Tap on the Two Lines Icon

From your Home screen, select the two lines icon on the bottom left to reveal all the background apps.

2. Select Close All

Swipe down to the bottom and tap the Close All button to kill all the background apps. Alternately, you can hit the X to the top right of each app to close them individually.

Note: Besides improving the recharge time, stopping background apps should also better your internet speed.

Perform a System Dump

Another quick method to get a faster recharge is the system dump. First, you need to access the Dialer and type *#9900#. Swipe to the bottom of the page that appears and select Low Battery Dump. Hit Turn On and exit to the Home screen.
