It’s that time of the month when Microsoft blesses us with free games. Well – the kind of free that requires to be subscribed to a paid service, but you get my point. Leaving the service are Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India and Crazy Taxi, and in their place will be four new games spread over March – two for Xbox One, and two for Xbox 360.
First up from 1 March all the way to the end of the month is Trials of the Blood Dragon. If that sounds like the bastard offspring of Trials HD and Far Cry: Blood Dragon, it’s because that’s exactly what it is. If that sounds like a terrible idea, well… the Metacritic reviews ain’t great.
What is great, however, is SuperHot, which will be available to download free of charge from 16 March all the way through to 15 April. SuperHot is a first person shooter with a twist – that twist being that time only moves when you do, allowing for bullet-dodging shenanigans (it’s even better in VR if you happen to have a PC VR rig).
Then there are two Xbox 360 titles – Brave and Quantum Conundrum. The former of these is a licensed title based on the Disney Pixar movie and has review scores you’d expect with those low expectations in mind. Quantum Conundrum, on the other hand, is a far more interesting proposition: a puzzle game from the Portal designer Kim Swift – though reviews suggest it doesn’t quite reach that high-quality threshold.
As is the case with all recent Xbox 360 Games with Gold, the titles have been chosen in part because they’re backwards compatible – so you’ll be able to play them on your Xbox One, though there’s no guarantee that time will have been kind to the graphics.
