F1 2018 game: Watch the trailer for F1 2018 Headline Edition

We’ve known for about a month that F1 2018 will be released later this summer, but today Codemasters revealed a trailer for the Headline Edition of the game, which is now available for pre-order.

Although the trailer contains no actual racing, it reveals that the 2009 Brawn BGP-001 and 2003 Williams FW25 will be among the classic F1 cars to feature in the Headline Edition. When asked if there’ll be more classic cars and tracks by one Twitter user, the game developer  promised that there’s “more to come yet’.

The announcement follows the first glimpse into F1 2018’s gameplay, when Codemasters released a video of Sauber driver Charles Leclerc racing a lap of the Monaco track ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix (see below). During the video, Leclerc, who can be seen driving a simulator barefoot, talks his way through every turn on the norotoriously tricky circuit.

Codemasters also announced last month that for the first time, it’ll be releasing a mobile version of the F1 2018 game, aptly titled F1 Mobile Racing. It’s not clear when the game will be released, with the press release only stating “later this year”, but it’ll be available on Android and iOS devices and promises to be free to play.

“F1 Mobile Racing will feature all the teams, cars and circuits of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ in an exhilarating, real time multiplayer experience,” the blog post explains. “We are excited to bring a host of fresh, new features to the franchise including the ability to develop and customise your own F1 car for the first time.”

F1 2018 game: Release date and price

Codemasters confirmed last month in a blog post that it will be releasing a brand new Formula 1 game, F1 2018, later this year.

The game will be available on all the usual platforms – PS4, Xbox One and PC – on 24 August, coinciding with the Belgian Grand Prix, which takes place at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit. From today, the Headline Edition version of the game is available to pre-order for £54.99. There’s no news yet on what the standard version of the game will cost.

F1 2018 game: New circuits, expanded career mode

Codemasters says that F1 2018 will feature “all of the official teams, the drivers and circuits of the 2018 season”. This means the cars will not only feature the controversial ‘halo’ safety feature to reflect the change in regulations for this year’s World Championships, but there will also be new tracks to drive. Specifically, the Circuit Paul Ricard will make an appearance, as the French Grand Prix makes its return to the Championship after ten years, and the Hockenheimring also makes a comeback, having not been included last year.

Although there’s no trailer for F1 2018 yet, F1 Franchise Director Paul Jeal also confirmed that the career mode will be expanded futher, with the return of a “highly requested feature”, so stand by for confirmation on what that is. There’s also promise of more classic cars, after fans were asked which historical F1 cars they’d most like to drive in the game.
