If you’ve been lucky enough to receive an invitation to the most talked about social media platform, then you might want to know how to mute or unmute yourself.

In this article, we’ll take you through how to mute/unmute yourself in a room, tell you what else the mute/unmute button can be used for, and other useful how-to information to get the best out of Clubhouse.

How to Mute or Unmute in Clubhouse?

When joining a chat, you are muted by default and won’t see the option to unmute yourself. To be able to speak once the room is open for questions, do the following:

1. Tap on the “Raise Hand” button found towards the bottom right-hand side of the screen. This lets the host/moderator know that you wish to speak.
2. When approved, the “Raise Hand” icon will be replaced by a microphone.
3. Tap the microphone to mute and unmute yourself.
   • Similar to how the microphone works on other apps, you will see a red line through it when muted. While you are speaking your profile will look like a blinking button.

Note:

• If the raise hand icon is greyed out, then the moderator would have turned this option off.
• If you forget to mute yourself the moderator can do it for you to eliminate as much background noise as possible.

How to Applaud a Speaker?

Tapping the microphone button in rapid succession sends a signal to everyone in the room that you appreciate what the speaker has just said by applauding them.

How Do You DM on Clubhouse?

There is no way to direct/private message a Clubhouse user within Clubhouse. To get around this, attach your Twitter and/or Instagram accounts; even if you’re not active on those platforms. Then do the following:

1. Navigate to the bio for the person you wish to DM.
2. Click on their Twitter or Instagram link.
3. Send them a message. Be sure to let them know you found them on Clubhouse.

To add your Twitter account to Clubhouse, do the following:

1. Access your Clubhouse profile and scroll to the bottom.
2. Tap on “Add Twitter”.
3. Log in to Twitter to connect your account.

To add your Instagram account to Clubhouse, do the following:

1. Access your Clubhouse profile and scroll to the bottom.
2. Tap on “Add Instagram”.
3. Log into your Facebook account and connect your Instagram account.

Alternatively, you could ask them to join a private room:

1. Access the Clubhouse app.
2. Scroll towards the bottom and click on “Start a room”.
3. Select “Closed”.
4. Click on “Add a topic” to write a description of the room.
   • You can edit the description before starting the room but not after.
5. Then “Set topic”.
   • You’ll automatically be brought into the room.
6. Search for and select the name of the person you wish to speak to.

Yes, you are. Once you’ve requested to speak by clicking on the raise hand icon, and the moderator grants you access, you’ll have the option to unmute yourself.

How Do You Join a Room in Clubhouse?

To join a clubhouse room, do the following:

1. Access the Clubhouse app.

2. From your hallway, you’ll see a list of rooms and who is in each room.

3. Tap on a room to join it.

You’ll see the following set up once you’ve joined a room:

1. At the top of the page is the stage, displaying the speaker and coordinators of the room.

2. The second section shows the people who are followed by the speakers.

3. The last section shows others in the room, the “audience members”.

Note: from time to time you’ll need to refresh the room. Do this by pulling down the screen know as PTR “Pull to revive”.

How Do You Bring Someone Into a Room?

1. From a room, press the plus sign to “ping in” someone you follow to join you in a room.

2. Search for the individual whom you wish to join the room.

3. Click on them to join.

How Do You Get Invited to a Clubhouse?

Currently, Clubhouse is an invite-only app; therefore, to join an existing user will need to send you an invite from the app allowing access to set up an account.

When you have been invited to join, you’ll receive a link in a text that will direct you to the sign-up page. Invitations are restricted. Users start with one or two invites, then receive more depending on how active they are on the app.

Alternatively, you can download the app and add your name to a waiting list, but there is no guarantee of getting in that way.

How to Start a Clubhouse Room?

To get a conversation started in a room, do the following:

1. Access the Clubhouse app.

2. Scroll towards the bottom and click on “Start a room”. You’ll be presented with the following room options:

· Open – everyone can join

· Social – only for the people you follow can join

· Closed – a private room where you ping individuals to join.

3. Once you’ve selected the room type, click on “Add a topic” to write a description of the room.

· You can edit the description before starting the room but not after.

4. Then “Set topic”.

You’ll automatically be brought into the room.

What Is a Clubhouse Moderator?

There are two ways in which you can become a moderator of a room:

· Creating your own room.

· When another moderator assigns the role to you.

Once you become a moderator you gain the following options:

· Send speakers back to the audience

· Mute speakers

· Invite people to speak

· Switch on/off member’s ability to raise their hands

· Promote speakers to moderate

· Accept speaking requests from the audience.

As a moderator, you’ll be responsible for helping set the tone of the room by influencing the conversation and energy.

How to Change Username in Clubhouse App?

To change your Clubhouse username, do the following:

1. Access your profile.

2. Click on your username.

3. Enter your new username.

What’s the Difference Between Clubs and Rooms?

In Clubhouse a room is where the conversations take place. They are audio-only and disappear once the chat has finished, very much like a conference telephone call. Any user can start a room and choose whether they want it to be private or open.

On the other hand, rooms are often found within clubs. Clubs create their own content and have members and followers. Following and joining clubs helps to give you a better experience of the app as the Clubhouse algorithm curates what you like.

How to Create a Club on Clubhouse?

There are three types of users, a founder/administrator, a member, and a follower. Once you’ve applied to create a club you’ll be considered a founder. To create one, you must have hosted a room at least three times.

To create a Club, do the following:

1. Access your profile.

2. Click on “Settings”.

3. Click on the “FAQ” link.

4. Select the arrow for the “How can I start a Club” question.

5. After you’ve read through the rules, click on the “here” link at the bottom, you’ll be taken to the “Create a Club request form”.

6. Complete the form, submit it, then wait for approval.

How to Delete Your Clubhouse Account?

There is no option to delete your account via the app or the clubhouse website. Clubhouse requires you to email support@alphaexplorationco.com to delete your account.
