How to Password Protect a Folder on Mac

Therefore, to encrypt your folder on Mac here’s what you need to do:

  1. Launch the “Applications” folder on your Mac. You can use the keyboard shortcut for this. Simply press “Cmd,” “Shift,” and “A” at the same time.

  2. Then, click on “Utilities.”

  3. Within “Utilities,” click on “Disk Utility.”

  4. Tap on “File” at the top of the screen.

  5. Next, hit “New image.”

  7. Once you copy everything, look for “Your-Password-Here.”

  8. Replace that section with your password. Make sure it doesn’t contain spaces.

  9. Then, click on “File” from the toolbar.
