Taking screenshots is quite useful when you want to capture interesting web pages, immortalize someone’s story on Instagram, or brag about your gaming score. Don’t forget that your iPhone 7/7+ features an impressive high-resolution screen which enables you to take equally impressive screenshots.
Similar to other features in iOS, taking screenshots can be done simply by pressing a couple of buttons. You can also take screenshots of any of the apps that you might be using. To ensure you get the most out of this feature, here is how to use it.
Screenshot with Physical Buttons
The new software on your iPhone 7/7+ allows you to utilize the Home and Power buttons to easily take a screenshot inside any app. This feature is quite convenient if you need to quickly take a snap while gaming. These are the steps you need to take:
1. Select the Page
Make sure you are on the right web page or app that you want to screenshot. Usually, you can swipe up or down to get the most accurate positioning.
2. Hit the Buttons
Once you are happy with the positioning press the Power and Home buttons at the same time.
3. Take a Screenshot
If you pressed the buttons correctly your screen will blink and you will hear the shutter sound. This confirms that you’ve successfully taken a screenshot. A small image should now appear in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
4. Use Your Screenshot
Tap on the screenshot image that appears to enter the menu where you can manipulate or share it.
How to Share or Edit the Screenshot
1. Editing and Manipulating Screenshots
The immediately accessible menu (as seen in the image above) lets you do some basic edits or share your screenshot. If you tap on the plus button, additional editing features will pop up. All the edits you make will be saved together with your screenshot.
2. How to Share a Screenshot
You can easily share the screenshot you’ve just taken by tapping on the Share button at the bottom left-hand side of the screen. A menu will appear in the lower half of the screen offering numerous options to share the screenshot or upload it to cloud.
Screenshots with Assistive Touch
Another method you may use to take screenshots is the Assistive Touch. Before you can use it, you need to enable it. Here’s how to do it:
1. Launch the Settings App
Once you get inside Settings, swipe down and tap to open Accessibility. In the Accessibility menu, swipe down to Assistive Touch and tap to enter. Now you can toggle on the Assistive Touch.
2. Customize the Options
In the Assistive Touch menu, tap on Customize Top Level Menu. Then select the star icon to create a custom action for the Assistive Touch. You’ll need to swipe down to Screenshot and select it.
3. Take a Screenshot
Now that you’ve added screenshot option to the Assistive Touch, you can take screenshots using one hand. Just tap on the Assistive Touch button, then tap on Screenshot – and you are done.
