How To Use OK Google on the iPhone XS Max

As Apple’s own product, Siri is the default virtual assistant for the iPhone and other iOS-run devices. The first version was launched back in 2011 and it has long been the only assistant available to iPhone users.

However, since recently, the iPhone users have the ability to switch to the Google Assistant which was previously available exclusively to Android users. If you’d like to mix things up on your iPhone XS Max and give the “OK Google” phrase a spin, here’s how to do it.

Google Assistant Requirements

Before installing the Google Assistant on your iPhone XS Max, you should first check whether all requirements are fulfilled.

First, you should check which version of iOS your phone is currently running. The Google Assistant requires that the phone is running at least iOS 10, as previous versions don’t support the app. However, this shouldn’t be a problem with the iPhone XS Max, given the fact that iOS 12 is the lowest available OS version.

Along with the proper version of the operating system, your phone will also have to fulfill language requirements. 2. Search for the Google Assistant.
3. Go to the app’s preview page and tap the “Get” button. Have in mind that you need to be at least 17 years of age to be able to install the Google Assistant.
4. Wait for the download and installation process to complete.

Setting Up the Google Assistant

Once the installation is complete, you are ready to start the setup process. Here are the steps:

1. Tap the Google Assistant icon on your phone’s Home screen.
2. Once the application launches, you will be asked to provide your Google account credentials. In case you haven’t done so earlier, now is the time to create your Google account. It is free and easy to do. Also, note that if you have multiple Google accounts, the Google Assistant will let you choose which one you want to connect to the app.
3. Next, the app will present you with a list of permissions it requires in order to give you the full Google Assistant experience. You can accept them all by tapping the “Yes, I’m In” button. If you decline with “No Thanks”, your user experience might be incomplete.
4. Finally, choose whether you want to receive emails on future Google Assistant updates.

Have in mind that when you tap the little microphone icon for the first time, you will have to give the app permission to use your phone’s microphone.
