As we saw in our exclusive review of the ProLiant DL360 G6, power is a priority for HP. The optional Insight Power Manager plug-in provides tools for monitoring and controlling power consumption and thermal output. The ICS interface is updated with graphs of power consumption, inlet air temperature and CPU performance.
HP’s Power Meter adds power consumption tables in the iLO2 web interface, plus controls for the Power Regulator and Power Cap features. A static lower power mode throttles back the CPU to its lowest power state, while the high performance mode throws all energy savings to the wind.
The DL380 G6 offers plenty of storage and expansion potential, valuable power controls, near-silent running, and one of the best server management packages on the market.
