HP TouchSmart Elite 7320 review

Price when reviewed

The pleasant mix of black plastic and shiny grey steel make the HP TouchSmart 7320 look quite businesslike. Our review sample featured a Core i3-2120 3.3GHz processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard disk; other specifications are available. In the box is a standard but functional wired mouse and keyboard combo.

HP TouchSmart Elite 7320 review

The TouchSmart has a 21.5in touchscreen display. With the default settings the image is overly bright, with colours looking washed out. There aren’t any brightness controls either, so we had to use the preinstalled “My Display” software; after a bit of tweaking, the display was among the best on test.

The screen input worked well, but a little too much force when prodding the screen resulted in noticeable wobble. Despite this, the screen tilted backwards with ease as soon as you put a little pressure on the top bezel. It’s adjustable and stable providing you don’t try to tilt it too far forwards, at which point it can topple. Still, there’s always the option of wall-mounting using the standard VESA mount on the back of the unit.

The rear also houses four USB 2 ports, the power adapter socket, an audio output and a Gigabit Ethernet

port. There’s also built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi for wireless networking. HP has decided not to include any external video connections – a second monitor or hooking the PC up to a projector isn’t an option – but two USB 3 ports are situated on the left edge of the display along with the mic and headphone jacks. The power button can be found on the top of the display and, like the DVD drive-eject button, it’s nice and chunky, making it easy to find when it’s out of sight.

The TouchSmart is a quality all-in-one that wouldn’t be out of place in the classroom. However, it’s hard to recommend when the Lenovo M71z is its equal and available for around £100 less.
