Unable to receive calls to your HTC U11? Unfortunately, in the US this is a common problem for unlocked HTC U11 phones using Verizon as a carrier.

There are no easy solutions to remedy this problem, but here are a few things you can try.
Solution 1 – Make Sure Your SIM Card is Activated
It may be an accidental oversight that is preventing you from receiving calls. So, before you try other troubleshooting solutions, call your carrier first. Make sure that your SIM card is activated and ready to go.
Solution 2 – New SIM
If you are using an unlocked HTC U11 with Verizon, you will need a new SIM card. For most phones, you can reuse your old SIM card with a new phone but that’s not the case with the HTC U11. They are incompatible.
Step One – Get a New SIM Card
First, go to your local Verizon store and get a new SIM card. They are free, so don’t worry about paying for it.
Also, make sure it’s activated before you leave the store.
Step Two – Test Card
When you get your new SIM card, pop it into your phone and test it out. You should be able to make and receive calls. If you still can’t, you may need to talk to Verizon’s customer service again.
Solution 3 – Make Sure the Phone is Fully Activated
Lastly, if your phone is still not receiving calls you may need to call your carrier’s customer service. Check to see if your HTC U11 is fully activated and ready to use for your carrier. Sometimes unlocked phones are not optimized and ready to use so this may be a potential solution, too.
Additional Tips
If you are able to receive calls but not messages, once again you may need to call your carrier’s customer service. Ask them to turn off or remove “CDMA-less provisioning.” Doing this helps previously blocked messages to get through to your phone.
In addition, if you are receiving missed calls or voicemails but no incoming calls, you may want to check your phone settings. There is a setting called “Flip to Mute” that may be on. To check this, follow the steps below:
Step One – Access Settings Menu
Swipe up on your Home screen to access your Settings menu. From there, select “Sound and Notification.”
Step Two – Check your Settings
If “Flip to Mute” is activated, it may mute incoming calls when your phone is face down. You can keep these settings if this is why you are missing your calls, select the mute frequency, or turn it off completely.
Lastly, you may check if this is the cause of your missed calls by switching this feature off and having someone call you.
Final Thoughts
The majority of problems about calls not going through to an HTC U11 device seem to be connected to Verizon. If you use Verizon, please try some of the solutions listed above.
However, if you do not use Verizon and are still unable to receive calls to your smartphone, you may want to check with your carrier. You may have a damaged or malfunctioning SIM card.
