Does Instagram Show You Who Voted in Your Poll?

Whether you’d like to know how well your brownies turned out, or are curious about the political views of your followers, creating a poll on Instagram can be one of the best ways to find out the public opinion at hand!

Does Instagram Show You Who Voted in Your Poll?

Now, before you start bombarding your fans with a truckload of different polls, there are a couple of things you may want to know about this seemingly innocent feature. To be precise, increasingly people have been scratching their heads wondering if their Instagram polls can suddenly become a matter of strife for their fans, so to speak, in case their anonymity is brought into question!

Vice versa, the fans may not feel as comfortable sharing their opinion if the person they’ve been following can see what option they’ve voted for.

This may not seem like that much of a big deal at first, but just think! Many of the polls assume the self-centered shape of ‘Oh, here’s a picture of me this morning, tell me if I look pretty here- YES or NO.’ Therefore, answering unfavorably to a thus concocted Instagram poll may mean insulting the person who made it! There’s an awkward situation for ya.

In order to prevent people from becoming overly emotional over this kind of stuff, we’ve devised this here article where we intend to answer the ancient question of- Does Instagram show you who voted in your poll?

So, without further ado, let’s see what’s going on here!

What Is This ‘Instagram Poll Business’ in the First Place?

Well, it’s a novelty thing for Instagram and the folks using it aren’t really still sure how it works. Sometime in the last year, the clever crew at the helm of Instagram decided to enrich their platform by installing a special feature that would allow their users to create simple polls for their followers.

It’s an add-on of sorts for the already-existing Story feature. The idea is that you, as an Instagram user, can quiz your followers by adding a poll sticker to the picture you posted. In this way, you can get the feedback from your fans and see what they think of various matters. Quite decent of Instagram, isn’t it?

The only problem seems to be that some people still aren’t sure if the whole Instagram poll thing is anonymous or not, which surely presents an uncertainty that may spook them away from asserting their opinion, or at least not truthfully. What a dilemma, indeed.

‘Should I say someone’s breeches are quite nice and make them feel good or crush their soul by admitting that I think that when they wear them- they look as if a bear just mauled them for a good half an hour?’

Odd, pseudo-posh times we’re living in, for sure. And yes, we’ll provide a definitive answer to the question posed above in one of the following paragraphs. (Not the one about the breeches, but the original question of the article, to be more precise.)

So, Are the Polls Anonymous or Not?

To put it shortly- No, they aren’t.

While many people were outraged that their opinions would be so unsubtly shown to the person who asked for them, the main idea of the Instagram crew that installed the feature wasn’t to expose the people’s identities or anything. They probably didn’t even think too much of the whole thing. As is correct, really.

Oh, so the person who asked for a poll can now see how you voted? So, what! It’s not like the government will now be on your heels because you liked a chocolate-covered cookie over the bare-bones version!

At this point, it seems obvious that the folks at Instagram wanted to introduce a simple polling feature to their platform so that people on it can have fun with it and share their thoughts among themselves.

Of course, some issues of vanity do pop up here and there, but oh well. Some people didn’t think much of your hairstyle in that particular photo? Well, whoopty doo!

So, bottom line- YES, people who create an Instagram poll can, indeed, see how you voted! Hope this doesn’t deter you from engaging with your fellow Instagrammers. There’s nothing to be ashamed about- we all have our own preferences on different matters! (Unless you’re actually into crocs, in which case do feel quite embarrassed and please leave the platform within the shortest possible time period.)

Just kidding, even crocs folks are welcome on the platform! We hope you liked this article and wish you many merry Instagram polls in the future!
