iPhone 7/7+ – How to Block Calls

Most of us get really frustrated by the incessant calls we receive from the telemarketers. On the other hand, you might have caught the eye of a secret admirer that has called you more times than you care to remember.

The best way to deal with these nuisances is to block their calls on your iPhone 7/7+. There are a few simple methods to do it.

Blocking Calls from Recents

If you got really frustrated because yet another telemarketer got through to you, here is how you can block them:

1. Launch the Phone App

When you are inside the Phone app, tap on the Recents icon at the bottom menu bar.

2. Tap on the “i” icon

There is a small round “i” icon right next to the contact name or number. Tap on this icon to get access to more information and actions associated with this particular number.

3. Select Block This Caller

When you tap on Block This Caller, a pop-up menu will appear asking you to confirm. Tap on Block Contact and you’ll never receive calls from that number again.

Blocking Calls from Settings

The iOS software on your iPhone 7/7+ allows you to block callers or even groups of contacts from the Settings app. To do so, take the following steps:

1. Open the Settings App

Swipe until you reach the Phone app, then tap to open it.

2. Select Call Blocking and Identification

Tap on Call Blocking and Identification inside the phone menu to select the contacts or groups you want to block.

3. Tap Block Contact

You should tap on Block Contact in the Call Blocking & Identification menu to bring up your Contact List. You can either block individual contacts one by one or block groups. To perform this action, you need to do the following:

Blocking Group Contacts

Tap on Groups

Select the Groups option in the upper left-hand corner of the menu to enter it.

Select the Group You Wish to Block

Once you’ve made the selection, tap on Done to confirm your choice.

Blocking Individual Contacts

Tap on the Contact

Browse your contact list to find the ones you want to block and tap to add them to the Blocked List.

Select Block Contact

For each new contact that you want to block you need to tap on Block Contact. It would have been nice if the software allowed you to select multiple contacts outside a Group, but you need to add them one by one.

How to Unblock the Numbers

If you decide that a certain number or group no longer needs to be blocked, you can easily unblock them.

Just follow these steps:

Settings App > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification

1. Tap Edit

When you reach Call Blocking & Identification, tap on Edit in the upper right-hand corner.

2. Tap Undo Icon

You should select the small red undo icon to the left of the contact’s name.

3. Tap Unblock

To confirm your choice, you need to tap Unblock next to the contact. Again, you need to repeat the same action for each of the contacts you wish to unblock.

The Last Call

The methods mentioned above should keep you safe from any unwanted calls you might be receiving. There are also some third-party apps that feature intuitive software to help you determine which calls to block. But if all these methods fail, you can always contact your carrier and report harassment.
