iPhone XR – How to Clear Chrome and App Cache

Running multiple apps will fill up your iPhone XR’s cache memory over time. When that happens, apps might start freezing and crashing for seemingly no apparent reason. In case you use Chrome as your main browser, it is wise to periodically empty its cache and browser memory for privacy and safety reasons.

iPhone XR – How to Clear Chrome and App Cache

Here is a quick and easy guide to clearing browsing data and cache from Chrome and other apps.

Clear Chrome Cache

Even though Apple devices have Safari as their default web browser, many iOS users opt to use Google Chrome instead. When your Chrome’s cache and browsing data pile up on your iPhone XR, here’s how to deal with them:

  1. Unlock your iPhone XR.
  2. Tap on the Chrome app icon on your phone’s Home screen.
  3. Next, tap on the “More” icon (three vertical dots). It is found in the top-right corner of the screen.
  4. Tap the “History” tab.
  5. Find the “Clear Browsing Data” option and tap on it.
  6. Select the items from the list that you want deleted. Be sure to check the “Cached Images and Files” and “Cookies, Site Data” options.
  7. Tap the “Clear Browsing Data” button to confirm your selection.

Be aware that clearing Chrome’s browsing data might sign you out of some sites and services, including your Google account.

Clear App Cache

In case your iPhone XR experiences performance problems or freezes when you launch a certain app, you should try deleting its cache. You can do so from the “Settings” app. Don’t do this unless you’re certain that you have the sensitive data (password, username) saved somewhere else. Also, note that the process will delete your game progress, settings, user preferences, and other info. Without further ado, here are the steps:

  1. Unlock your iPhone XR.
  2. After that, tap the “General” tab.
  3. Once in the “General” section of the menu, find and tap the “iPhone Storage” tab.
  4. Tap the “Manage Storage” tab.
  5. Select the “Documents and Apps” section and select a file.
  6. Choose the files you’d like to delete and drag them to the left.
  7. Tap the Delete button.
  8. After that, tap the “Edit” button.
  9. Next, tap the “Delete” button.

In case the problems continue and your iPhone XR keeps freezing when you launch the problematic app, you should consider deleting and reinstalling it.

Clear RAM

To avoid speed and performance issues, it is also advisable to clear your iPhone XR’s RAM memory from time to time. Follow these steps:

  1. Unlock your iPhone XR.
  2. Tap the “Settings” app icon on your phone’s Home screen.
  3. Tap the “General” tab.
  4. In the “General” section, find and tap the “Accessibility” tab.
  5. Find the “Assistive Touch” option and turn it on.
  6. Tap the slider switch to turn it green.
  7. Go back to the “General” section.
  8. Find and tap the “Shut Down” button.
  9. Tap the “Assistive Touch” icon.
  10. Next, tap and hold the icon of the “Home” button. Hold it until your phone’s screen goes black and then flashes white.

Conclusion

Having apps freeze and compromise your iPhone XR’s performance can be troublesome, though it is nothing to fret over. By following the instructions laid out in this article, you’ll have your phone running up to speed in a matter of minutes.

Same here. Holding home icon did nothing. I have version 13.1.3. Any updates on clearing Ram? Thanks!

Leading Ram did not work. I followed all the steps & after going back into “General” & clicking “shut down” it goes to shut down screen, options were to use the slider shut down and at bottom it has “cancel” button. Once in that shit down screen, I clicked the assistive button & the screen did not turn from black to white.
So I cancelled, clicked on the assistive button that brought up a few options & I saw the home icon so I clicked it & held it & it still did nothing. I’m new to iPhones so I’m sure I’m doing something wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated
ps: after updating to OS 13, I’ve had nothing but problem after problem so when OS 13.1 came out, I updated & now have iCloud issues & my iCloud email isn’t working right 🙁
