iPhone XS is generally not prone to automatic restart problems. But if it keeps restarting, most users are going to think that there is something seriously wrong with their device. Luckily, the problem can often be solved with a few quick fixes that anybody can apply.

In most cases, the issue lies in the iOS or lack of updates. The following write-up goes over some of the most common methods for solving the spontaneous restarts.
Don’t hesitate to comment if some of the suggested methods helped.
Perform a Force Restart
Paradoxically, one of the quickest ways to overcome continuous restarts is to force your iPhone XS to restart. This method removes minor bugs, errors, and software glitches that might be causing the problem. Check out how to force restart:
1. Press Volume Buttons
Press and release the Volume Up button, then do the same with the Volume Down button.
2. Hold the Power Button
After you release the Volume Down button, press and hold the Power button until you see the Apple logo on the screen. This means you have successfully initiated the force restart. Now, wait for the iPhone XS to boot up.
Note: The force restart needs to be done in the sequence as described above, otherwise it won’t work.
Install Updates
After a major iOS update, some apps might start acting up and cause your iPhone XS to keep restarting. The remedy is, of course, to freshen up the apps with an update.
1. Go to App Store
Launch App Store and hit Updates at the bottom of the page. The following screen gives you a list of all available updates for the apps on your iPhone XS.
2. Tap Update All
Select Update All and wait until it’s done. Alternately, you can tap on Update next to each of the apps or update a few at a time.
Note: Selecting a few updates might be hit or miss since you never know which apps might be causing the problem.
Reset All Settings
Major iOS updates may overrule some of your iPhone’s settings, especially if you heavily customized the settings. This causes a conflict which can put your iPhone XS in a constant restart loop.
This reset might sound like a big deal. But there is no need to worry because it does not affect any of the data on your phone. Here’s how to do it:
1. Launch the Settings App
Once inside the app, select General, then swipe to Reset and tap on Reset all settings.
2. Enter Your Passcode
Type in your passcode when prompted and confirm the reset in the following window.
Tip: Restart your iPhone XS after the settings reset to purge the cache, then you can go back and customize the settings again.
The Last Restart
If none of the described methods help, you should do a hard reset. This will wipe all the data from your phone so you might want to create a backup first.
On the other hand, if you haven’t updated to the latest iOS – make sure to do it. A very outdated iOS might also cause your iPhone XS to keep restarting.
