Browsing the web on the 6.5” screen of the iPhone XS Max is a very satisfying experience. The one thing that can ruin it are the lags caused by a slow internet connection. Having to wait for each page to load can be quite nerve-wracking, so you’ll want to make sure this doesn’t happen.

The good news is, you can. Better yet, most of the time it doesn’t take a lot of effort or time to do this. Let’s take a look at some of the most common solutions.
Declutter Safari
Sometimes slow browsing speeds aren’t related to the connection but the browser. Being Apple’s native browser, Safari should be your primary choice for browsing the web. For a vast majority of iPhone users, it already is. However smooth it can be, after prolonged use, it tends to get cluttered with a ton of temporary files that can slow it down.
Here’s how to remove them:
Open the Settings app and go to Safari.
Scroll down to Clear History and Website Data.
Tap on it and confirm the deletion.
This will make Safari run much more smoothly, and the browsing experience will likely be as snappy as it should. If you’re using another browser, you can delete all browsing data from it in much the same way, seeing as pretty much all of them offer this option.
Soft Reset Your Phone
The reason why experts recommend a soft reset as one of the first options when you’re facing lags is pretty clear. It refreshes iOS and clears temporary data from its RAM. It’s a quick fix that can resolve many different issues, including a slow internet connection, whether it’s to do with the browser or the connection itself.
Here’s how to do it:
Hold the Side button and any Volume button at the same time for a few seconds.
Release both buttons once you see the Slide to Power Off
Drag the slider to the right.
Wait for a few seconds, then turn on the device by holding the Side
Stop Apps from Running in the Background
A great thing about the iPhone is that it automates many processes that you’d have to do manually on other phones. The downside of this is that apps that rely heavily on your internet connection might run in the background. A great example of this are the App Store updates, which are set to automatic as long as you’re on Wi-Fi.
You can prevent this by going to Settings > iTunes and App Store and toggling off Updates under Automatic Downloads.
As for the other apps, simply canceling them by swiping up on them from the app previews should do the trick.
The Final Word
There’s a good chance that one of these methods will work for most users who are facing issues with their internet speed. Of course, you should always check your Wi-Fi and cellular connection signal strength as well.
