iPhone XS – Not Receiving Calls – What to Do

Problems with incoming calls are surprisingly common with iPhones. Luckily, there are a few quick fixes that can help you restore your calls back to normal. In most cases, people have the wrong settings on their iPhone that prevent incoming calls from getting through to them.

iPhone XS - Not Receiving Calls - What to Do

Here are some straightforward fixes that can help you get your incoming calls back quickly.

Airplane Mode

You might have accidentally turned on Airplane Mode on your phone. This is one of the silent modes that stops incoming calls from getting through. You can quickly check if the mode is on by swiping up from your Home screen.

Swiping up brings you to the Control Center. If the airplane icon is orange, Airplane Mode is on. You can turn it off by tapping on the icon.

Do Not Disturb Mode

“Do Not Disturb” is another silent mode that might be the reason why you are not receiving calls. You can swipe up and check whether the mode is on in the Control Center. The crescent moon icon symbolizes the “Do Not Disturb” mode and if the icon is white with a purple moon, this mode is on.

Just tap on the icon to disable the mode. You should know that “Do Not Disturb” can be scheduled, so you should also check the Settings. Here’s how to do it:

1. Access the Settings App

Tap to open the Settings app and swipe up until you reach the Do Not Disturb option.

2. Toggle Off  “Do Not Disturb” Options

Once inside the menu, make sure that all the toggles next to all the options are switched to off, including the one next to the ”Scheduled” option.

Forwarded Calls

Your incoming calls might be forwarded to another number, so you cannot receive them on your iPhone XS. You should take the following steps to ensure that your calls are not being diverted:

1. Launch the Settings App

Once inside the Settings app, swipe down to the Phone menu and tap to open it.

2. Tap Call Forwarding

Enter the Call Forwarding section of the Phone menu and make sure that the button next to the forwarding option is toggled off. If need be, you can easily go back to the forwarding option and quickly reset the forwarding number.

Other Call-Related Issues

The reason you are not receiving any calls on your iPhone XS might be something other than software-related. Here are some of the common problems that might prevent callers from getting through to you:

SIM Card

There might be something wrong with your SIM card, so you should take it out of the phone for inspection. Carefully remove the card from the tray and check if it has some flaws or damages. You can also gently wipe the card with a dry cloth before you insert it back into the phone.

Carrier Issues

Sometimes your carrier might be experiencing network or connectivity problems on their end. It is thus wise to get in touch and see whether the problem is with them.

The Last Call

The fixes listed above should help you easily restore incoming calls on your iPhone XS, but if they fail to repair the problem, you might need to do a hard reset on your phone. If you still cannot receive calls even after a reset, it would be wise to take the phone to a phone repair shop to pinpoint the issue.
