Apple tablet coming in March?

The company is expected to announce a 10in or 11in tablet later this month, but according to the Wall Street Journal it won’t be released until March.

The newspaper reports that Apple is currently debating two different finishes for the device, and suggests that when it eventually emerges it will be priced at around $1,000.

There’s a suggestion that this could also include free browsing over a 3G network, as happens with the Kindle.

As with the Kindle, it’s being reported that Apple has signed content deals to allow people to download books, magazines and newspapers through subscription services to the tablet – possibly called the iSlate.

Unlike the Kindle, however, it could also be used to watch films and television, and download games through the iTunes App Store.

Apple is expected to announce the tablet on 27 January.
