“You can’t have your cake and eat it too,” as the old expression goes. Well, with the help of an American bakery, you can have your cake… but you’ll just have to eat your words.

New York City’s Troll Cakes is whipping up a new way to take on those pesky internet trolls who seem to love sharing their unsolicited opinions.
The process of baking a troll cake starts with a screenshot of any social media post or internet comment. Customers send that and the author’s address to owner Kat Thek, who will bake a chocolate chip brownie cake and decorate it with icing or fondant letters restating the same phrase. When it arrives on the troll’s doorstep, it will include a photo of the original comment and read “Congratulations! Your Internet comment has been made into a Troll Cake!” underneath. A much sweeter way to throw someone’s words back in their face.
It’s all good fun with colourful icing and sprinkles for decoration, and Thek means no serious harm, as the website’s FAQ warns against sending a troll cake to anyone with a severe allergy. Although it’s generally considered good practice to avoid eating anonymously posted packages.
The bakery is also a self-proclaimed detective agency because Thek will find the troll’s address if the customer doesn’t know. Baking and sending the cake costs $35 (about £28), and Thek charges an additional $25 (about £20) for her detective services.
Some of Thek’s previous work features phrases like “You donkey witch,” “Sorry you’re such a hateful person, Beth” and the always chivalrous “Wouldnt smash.” (And the troll is at fault for improper grammar in the last platitude, of course.)
For a flat rate of $30 (£24), Thek also offers a “Tiny Hands Special” that allows Americans to send their least-favourite tweets from President Donald Trump to the White House.
Unfortunately, Thek’s services are only offered in the US, but maybe Trump’s latest social media-based resentment against Mayor Sadiq Khan will make its way to his doorstep in the American capital – or wherever he is golfing that weekend.
Of course, if you want to find edible fire with edible fire, you could always send them an aubergine. Revenge is a dish best served cold, and shipped within 3-5 working days.
