Google’s Year in Search 2017: Bitcoin, iPhone 8 and Netflix among the most popular Google searches this year

If you’ve been keeping abreast of the news, there will be few surprises in Google’s Year in Search 2017 lists. 

Meghan Markle topped the list of overall trending searches, after her relationship and more recent engagement to Prince Harry, followed by the iPhone 8 and Hurricane Irma.

The top trending ‘What is…?’ questions included ‘what is a hung parliament’, ‘what is an exit poll’ and ‘what is the DUP’ and the top ‘How to…?’ questions ranged from ‘how to make slime?’ to ‘how to buy Bitcoin?

Other Bitcoin-related searches included ‘what is Bitcoin’, and ‘how to mine Bitcoins’.
