BlackBerry Motion lands with a huge battery and no keyboard

Days after images leaked on Twitter showing an all-touchscreen handset, BlackBerry has launched the Motion.

BlackBerry Motion lands with a huge battery and no keyboard

As rumoured suggested, the device has a lot in common with the company’s KEYone phone, but without the keyboard and with a sizeable 4,000mAh battery. According to Android Central, it comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD LCD display, and a Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The BlackBerry Motion also has a fingerprint sensor, a 12MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, and an 8MP front-facing camera. In terms of software, it comes with an identical version of Android 7.1 that you’ll find on the KEYone.

Unveiled at the GITEX event in Dubai, the Motion is allegedly coming to “select” markets, with reports suggesting this points to Middle Eastern areas like the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The price will be the equivalent of around $460 (£351).

Whether or not the BlackBerry Motion will come to the UK remains to be seen, although the lack of keyboard seems to strip the device of its most obvious unique selling point. BlackBerry has made much of its stance on security and privacy as of late, so expect this to be angled towards company workers or the BlackBerry faithful. For the rest of us, BlackBerry will be fighting against the likes of the OnePlus 5
