Devolo dLAN 200 AVeasy Starter Kit review

Price when reviewed

Devolo has always been at the forefront of powerline network product development, and its dLAN 200 AVeasy Starter Kit has all the hallmarks of a mature product line.

The build quality is good and all the features required are in place – namely certification to ensure cross-manufacturer compatibility and a small button to make network encryption a 30-second job.

The homeplugs also performed well, with solid transfer rates in the house of between 32.3Mbits/sec and 36.4Mbits/sec – slightly slower than the rest at an average of 34.2Mbits/sec, but still enough for HD video streaming and fast file transfers.

But under the kosh it was much the same story as with the Dynamode adapters – over distance, the transfer rate fell by a whopping 23.1Mbits/sec to 11.1Mbits/sec.
