IT admins can kick off their shoes and put the kettle on next week, with only a single fix to worry about on Patch Tuesday.

The patch deals with a serious flaw in various versions of PowerPoint which could ultimately lead to remote code execution.
The flaw is described as critical for the relic-like PowerPoint 2000, and downgraded to “important” for PowerPoint 2002 (XP), 2003 and 2007.
The patch is slightly more complicated for firms running Office 2007, with Microsoft stating that: “For Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Service Pack 1 and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Service Pack 2, customers also need to install the security update for Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats Service Pack 1 and Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats Service Pack 2 to be protected from the vulnerabilities described in this bulletin.”
Got that? Good.
