Toshiba unveils 64GB SD card
Toshiba is hoping to tempt HD video fans with the “world’s first” 64GB SD memory card.
The card is designed for the ever-increasing range of camcorders (and even DSLRs) that capture memory-intensive HD video.
The 64GB SDXC Memory Card is compatible with version three of the SD Memory Standard, offering claimed read speeds of up to 60MB/sec and a maximum write speed of 35MB/sec.
However, the cards are some way off a full commercial launch. Toshiba says it will start to deliver samples of the cards this autumn, with mass production due to swing into action next spring.
Toshiba has yet to announce the price of the 64GB card, although it will have to go some to top the price of Kingston’s recently announced 256GB flash drive, which weighed in at a wallet-ripping £650.
