Vodafone has started taking orders for the Google Nexus One, with the handset costing nothing for those willing to commit to a two-year contract.

Until now, the handset has only been available directly from Google, but Vodafone will begin distributing the Nexus One from 5 May and has begun taking orders on its website.
The company is offering the Nexus One for free on a two-year, £35 per month contract, which includes 1GB of mobile internet data, 600 minutes of talk time and unlimited texts. The handset costs $529 if bought directly from Google, with buyers required to provide their own SIM.
The HTC manufactured Nexus One has been rather usurped by the Taiwanese manufacturer’s own Android handset, the HTC Desire, which last week knocked the iPhone 3GS off the top of our A List.
Shipments of HTC handsets have been affected by last week’s volcanic ash problems, leaving many buyers waiting for pre-ordered handsets.
