Android 2.1 hits Milestone

Motorola has rolled out the Android 2.1 upgrade for UK owners of the Milestone.

Android 2.1 hits Milestone

Android 2.1, codenamed Eclair, debuted with Google’s Nexus One smartphone back in January and brings a host of features to the operating system.

Perhaps the most significant is the extension of voice recognition to every aspect of the device, allowing people to dictate words into any text field – whether that’s a text messages, email, tweet or Facebook post.

Eclair also brings live wallpapers, which can be interacted with via the touchscreen, a new app launcher, more home screens, and some WebKit changes that improve the speed of the browser. There’s also the usual raft of bug fixes.

The announcement appeared on Motorola’s official Facebook page, and thanked users for their patience.

The update is available through Motorola’s support page.
