New iPad orders won’t ship until 7 June

Apple has put back the delivery date of the iPad in the UK, less than a week after it started taking orders for the tablet.

New iPad orders won't ship until 7 June

Customers placing orders on the Apple website now won’t get their hands on the device until 7 June. When Apple started taking orders on Monday, the delivery date was stated as 28 May.

Apple was unavailable for comment at the time of publication, but it’s reported that customers who were originally given a shipping date of 28 May will still receive their tablets on that day.

Apple stores will also be stocking the iPad on 28 May, no doubt raising the prospect of queues sneaking round the block as Apple’s loyal devotees rush to get their hands on the tablet.

The website now plainly stipulates a maximum of two iPads per customer, no doubt in a bid to stop canny entrepreneurs making a killing on eBay.

Apple has already delayed the launch of the iPad in the UK, after it decided to meet strong demand for the tablet in the US at the expense of international customers.
