The latest Firefox 4 beta has arrived, six weeks before developers are hoping to ship the final release candidate.

The ninth beta for the latest version of the open-source browser comes six months after the first arrived.
There aren’t any major new features in the works, as developers have now moved on to improving what they have to prepare for launch, including making it load more quickly and fixing 650 bugs.
“As we continue to refine features and performance in Firefox 4 Beta, this release includes faster start-up time, bookmarking and makes complex animations smoother,” Mozilla said in a blog post.
Developer notes show there will be at least one more beta – the tenth – ahead of the arrival of the release candidate, which a Mozilla exec said last week should arrive at the end of next month.
