The deal would see UberMedia take over the London-based Twitter client developer for £19 million, according to a report in the Financial Times.

Neither firm was immediately available for comment.

UberMedia, formerly known as TweetUp, has also recently picked up a pair of other Twitter clients, EchoFon and UberTwitter.

TweetDeck is currently based in Old Street, London – dubbed the Silicon Roundabout by some – an area considered key to the Government’s plans to boost the number of tech firms calling East London home.

It reportedly has 20 million users, and is the most popular app to update Twitter, coming second only to the microblogging website in status updates.
