Android update unlocks SD card on Motorola Xoom

Motorola has begun to roll out Android 3.1 for its Xoom tablet, activating the previously unusable SD card slot.

Android update unlocks SD card on Motorola Xoom

We reviewed the Motorola Xoom back in April, describing it as a well-made device and awarding it four stars. However, we voiced our concerns over the inability to use the SD slot, which could have given it a potential advantage over the iPad 2.

Full release notes are to be posted on a regional basis, but a representative for Motorola Europe announced on the company’s Facebook page that the update would be rolled out to users in the coming weeks.

US Xoom owners have already received the Android 3.1 update, but strangely that didn’t unlock the SD card.

Other notable features in the Android 3.1 update include support for more Bluetooth devices, resizable widgets and full Adobe Flash 10.2 support.
